My photography teacher said that Nikon is very good.
What do you think ?
[btw] i’m just a beginner but I’m really want an SLR camera.
so I want a cheap, quality and very easy to use camera.

I’ve had the D40 for about three weeks now and have taken about 400 images, which I consider 200 are keepers. In the old days this would have taken me a year or so. This DSLR is not only a great tool for picture taking but a serious production tool as well. The build quality, image quality and ergonomics are all outstanding. I’ve been into photography since the early 70’s and have never been so impressed with a piece of gear as I am with the D40. Just simply go out and buy one – you will not regret it.

The words “cheap” and “quality” are mutually exclusive.
Any DSLR you buy will require that you spend time to really READ & STUDY the Owner’s Manual. This will be easier for you since you are taking a photography class. Your camera will be easier to use as you gain experience with it.
The Sony A300 is around $600.00 with the 18-70mm zoom lens and it has Live View that works with the auto focus.
The Sony A200 is around $500.00 with the 18-70mm zoom lens.
The Nikon D40 is comparably priced but was introduced in 2006 so in the world of digital cameras its old technology.
The Pentax K200D is around $700.00 with the 18-55mm zoom lens. It is weather-resistant but not water proof.
The Canon XS is around $530.00 with the 18-55mm zoom lens.
Sony and Pentax have their versions of Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body. Every lens used will become an IS lens.
Nikon and Canon have their versions of IS in select lenses. Plus, you get to pay for the IS every time you buy an IS lens.
The Sony DSLR cameras can use every Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985. I counted 61 Maxxum/Sony lenses on the wikipedia site.
The Pentax DSLR cameras can use, with some limitations, every K-mount lens made since 1975.
Editorial Comment:
I find it amusing that the same people who often tell beginners “Its not the camera, its the photographer” will also tell beginners that “Pros only use Nikon or Canon”. Professional photographers use many different brands of cameras. Some prefer Hasselblad, some like Mamiya, some use Olympus, some even use view cameras.
I suggest doing your research and choosing the DSLR that you believe offers you the most features and benefits for your money and ignore the brand snobbery.
I bet that if you took the same picture with a Sony, Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Olympus DSLR with all settings identical and then printed out 4×6 prints nobody would know which picture was taken by which camera.
Your choice of an SLR camera is a good one. The SLR cameras give you the tools to grow with, aperture and shutter speed controls.
I’m sure your teacher would agree that Canon, as well as Nikon are very good cameras, they both are quality cameras.
As to very easy to use, both offer a point and shoot mode; but you’re going to move on to controlling aperture and shutter speed.
Both Canon and Nikon offer entry level dSLR’s. The Canon Rebel series and the Nikon D40 series. Either will give you good performance. It is up to you to take the good picture. Go to a photo shop and decide which feels better in your hands. That’s the camera for you.
Shopping is of major concern here since you keep talking about cheap. You mean less expensive. Always keep in mind “If it sounds to be good to be true, it is.” Vet your vendor with http://www.resellerratings.com/rlist-s1-… or an equivalent site. There are some very bad people out there who will take your money and run, leaving you with nothing but heartache.
I have always had good luck with refurbished equipment. You might want to consider that. Be sure to look carefully at the warranty and buy from a reliable dealer.
Edwin couldn’t be more right. Everyone thinks Canon and Nikon are the only companies that make good DSLR’s, but they’re wrong. I currently have a Pentax K20D and haven’t even begun to reach its limitations. I also potentially saved thousands by using all my old lenses from my Pentax K1000 and Pentax SF1 (all film SLR’s). Look at all the brands and read the reviews. My camera cost over $700 (and that was just for the body), so you may want to look at the other models first.
Nikon D40 is your best choice.Great quality picture,Light & Compact,easy to use,affordable price.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KJQ…
Go for Nikon….only
so many professional photographers use only Nikon, if you go on
